So I thought it was about time I shared with you a few bits and pieces I got from Laura Mercier recently. The baked eye shadow and the kohl eye pencil were Christmas presents from Mike, which was great as I very nearly bought them whilst I was in San Francisco before Christmas. And the eye shadow trio was from my recent SpaceNK haul.
This is my first foray into Laura Mercier and I have to say I’m a bit on the fence at the moment. I LOVE the kohl eye pencil and the solo eye shadow but I was really disappointed with the eye shadow trio, but we’ll get on to why in a moment.
The Baked Eye Shadow in Ballet Pink is a beautiful shimmery pink nude that’s ideal for adding a bit of glitz to a neutral eye. Laura Mercier say they can be used wet or dry but I’ve only used it dry so far.
I’ve found you need a good primer to keep this in place or it tends to fade fast leaving just a slight frost, not attractive!
And here it is swatched. You can really see the shimmer here.
Next up there’s the Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Gold.
I’ve been using this on my waterline as a change from the usual black liner. I find it really brings out the golden flecks in my blue eyes and imagine it would be equally flattering to brown eyed girls.
As you can see from the swatch, whilst this is called Black Gold it definitely leans more towards gold toned than black which I really like.
Finally there’s the Petite Eye Trio in Smoky Taupes. I bought this on a whim as it was reduced to just £10 in the SpaceNK sale and honestly kinda regret it. None of the colours are really stand out shades.
I found Twilight Grey to be quite chalky and Nica is a really chunky glitter which doesn’t seem to stay put no matter how much primer you use. Which just leaves Sable which is a nice mid-toned brown taupe, but nothing I don’t already have covered with my Urban Decay Naked Palettes.
Here it is swatched, as you can see Nica is full of chunky glitter but with very little payoff. Sable is the most wearable of the shades and Twilight Grey is a sooty grey/black shade.
What are your favourite products from Laura Mercier?
You picked up some lovely items. The eyeshadow is gorgeous!
