It wouldn’t be a trip to San Francisco without some good ol’ fashioned mac & cheese. Feeling particularly drained after a long morning shopping I took to Google to find the best mac & cheese in town. Which is where I discovered the wonder that is The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen.
Behind these unassuming doors is the most amazing sandwich in the world, the mac & cheese grilled cheese sandwich. Not content with this amazing discovery I also added bacon, because, well everything tastes better with bacon!
Isn’t this just the most gorgeous hunk of a sandwich?
Every sandwich comes with an apple which means you’re even getting one of your five a day…as well as a total carb overload…but who cares when it tastes this good?!

There’s a lovely canteen-like charm to the place, making it a lovely spot to relax and people watch. Although you may not want to be watched if you’re eating the mac & cheese grilled cheese sandwich as it’s a bit of a beast to eat.
I found the best method was to roll up my sleeves, tie back my hair and get stuck in!
