Whilst I’m away in San Francisco the lovely Sarah from Simply-Woman.com offered to write a guest post on her favourite face masks.

Gold/lotus face masks
Jamela Skincare recommended the 24k Gold Collagen Face Masks to halt the signs of ageing and the Lotus Crystal masks to combat the effects of radiant in our environment. These face shaped masks are easy to apply – just rip the packet open and fit the mask to your face where the eye, nose and mouth holes are. This is a fabulously relaxing treatment as you can just close your eyes and lay back to enjoy the quiet and darkness. This is a great mask to use in the bath because after you’ve had the mask on (minimum recommended time is 30 min) then you can drop it into your bath and it will dissolve in the bathwater where you will get the benefits of the ingredients as well. 5 masks – £37.50
Gold masks contain – 24k gold, plant collagen, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and rose essence.
Lotus masks contain – Lotus extract, soya protein and hyaluronic acid.
There are other types of masks including Rose Aftersun, Chamomile, Tea Tree and Lavender.
Glamglow Mud
Fabulous mud from the South of France! Glamglow launched onto the beauty scene recently as an exfoliating mud mask and promised to give Hollywood quality results. It’s a great mask – a little more difficult to use than the others as it dries in really quickly so you’ve got to slap it on the bits of your face and smooth over in time for it drying out. It’s pleasant enough – it’s not the most relaxing experience so if you are looking for a gentle, pampering spa you might go for one of the physical masks where you can sit back and enjoy but it’s certainly great for your skin and gives a lovely tingly sensation. Check out their website where you can also pick up trial sized sachets to try out. 50ml £49.99, 15ml £22.50, 7ml £4.99
Elemis Exotic Cream moisturising Mask
Elemis being the UK leading spa brand know how to do great skincare. This rich and gentle cream is applied to the face and allowed to penetrate the skin and it is so soothing and comforting it’s perfect for winter blasted skin. When you’ve been standing waiting for a bus in horizontal rain and blustery conditions, this is the one to use when you get home! I absolutely love the smell of this product as it contains one of my top fragrances of all time – bergamot and has a summery feel to it to brighten up the darkest winter days! Just a beautiful treatment – one to put in your weekly diary for flawless skin and peaceful state of mind. Can also be used overnight as a power skin treatment. I like to get my Elemis from QVC as they often have great price offers. For example the RRP on this product alone is £32.50 but QVC offer the mask and Rose Exfoliator duo for £31.26.
Contains – Mimosa, amino-acid rich Honey, soothing Samphire, Orange and Bergamot
Ahinoa Diamond range – Radiant Facial Peeling with Diamond Powder
This is a beautiful and luxurious product from Spanish skincare company Ahinoa. It’s designed as an exfoliator but works well as a short mask as you don’t “scrub” it on like other more fluid exfoliators, it has to be smoothed onto the skin and then left for 2-5 minutes. The product contains mint essential oil which adds to the spa like experience and your skin feels wonderful once you’ve removed the product. £89.50 from their website or stand alone shop in St Pancras.
Balance Me – Stellar Beauty Balm
Another fantastic multi-tasking product, this extremely thick and rich balm can be used as a hydrating face mask for a short time or left on all night. Soaks in beautifully to the skin and doesn’t leave any oily residue which I find can happen with some balm based products. Ideal for dry, mature and very dry skins 50ml – £18
Contains – organic shea butter, virgin coconut oil, rosehip oil, mango seed butter, neroli, may chang and red mandarin.
