Christmas is usually a joyous time for me. I love the present buying and giving, the music and all the excuses to catch up with old friends. However there is one thing I haven’t enjoyed this year and that is the fact that coming home for Christmas this year has meant waving goodbye to technology.
It seems that whilst I spend my weeks in London pining for the countryside, my iPhone has a complete breakdown at the very thought of anything involving fresh air and fields.
It wouldn’t be so bad, but my laptop refuses to connect to the home internet, so as soon as I step over the family threshold I am whisked into the world of 14 year old me, having to ask permission to use one of the family laptops.
So here I am, 7 days into life without Twitter, Facebook, Email and WordPress. And how am I finding it? Horrific doesn’t even begin to describe it! I find myself having internet binges as soon as a laptop is handed my way. Reading pages and pages of status updates to find out what I’ve missed. I’m actually longing to get back to my office and back into my social loop. Ah well……only 10 more days to go!
